Emoticon - eine Kuh
Emoticons sind kleine Piktogramme aus normalen Satzzeichen, die ein Smiley nachbilden, um in E-Mails oder beim Chat Stimmungs- und Gefühlszustände auszudrücken (oder sich Schreibarbeit zu sparen).
Die Bezeichnung Emoticon ist eine Wortkreuzung, gebildet aus Emotion und Icon. In den meisten Fällen stellen Emoticons um 90° gedrehte Gesichter dar, die aus dem Basis-Smiley entstanden sind. (Wenn Sie das Gesicht nicht auf Anhieb erkennen können, hilft es manchmal, den Monitor auf die Seite zu drehen) ;-)

Emoticons are small pictograms made from normal punctuation marks that mimic a smiley face to express moods and feelings in emails or chats (or to save on typing).
The term emoticon is a hybrid of words formed from Emotion and Icon. In most cases, emoticons represent faces rotated by 90°, created from the base smiley. (If you can't see the face right away, turning the monitor on its side sometimes helps) ;-)
